Things have been a bit busy in the extra-blog world, so I've been woefully neglectful of good ol' Nimble Tread. But don't worry, posts will be coming, and they'll be coming soon! In the meantime, if you feel pressed for something to do, feel free to pop over to the Southbank Center this weekend for an event they're calling Sound Moves. The press release sums it up thusly:
Over two days in March, Southbank Centre will be overflowing with performances, open rehearsals and workshops by some of the UK's most talented young musicians and dancers. At the centre of Sound Moves is an energy-packed show in the Royal Festival Hall, featuring classical ballet, big band jazz, contemporary dance, choral singing, Kathak dance and percussion.
All the performers, aged 8 to 19, receive training from specialist schools, conservatoires and centres for advanced training in London and the South East . The unique feature of the scheme is that it enables young people to maintain a broad and balanced education while receiving this particular training.
Lots of folks are always harping on about how the youngins are horribly deficient in arts education, so why not help do something about it? Virtually all of the events are free, and more information can be found here.
